Research project: War and the State in the Making of Modern East Asia
Seo-Hyun Park is an Associate Professor in the Department of Government and Law at Lafayette College. Her primary areas of research are international relations and East Asian security, focusing on issues of national identity politics, state sovereignty and state-building, alliance politics, regionalism, and historical influences on contemporary international relations. She is the author of Sovereignty and Status in East Asian International Relations (Cambridge University Press, 2017). Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, such as the Review of International Studies, Journal of East Asian Studies, and Chinese Journal of International Politics, and in media outlets such as The Washington Post. While at Harvard, Professor Park will examine war and state-building in East Asia.
