Research Project: Japan’s Foreign Aid Policy: Economic, Humanitarian, and Diplomatic Dimensions
Koichi Hasegawa holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo and a Master of Laws from Georgetown University. At the Ministry of Finance, he was most recently Vice President at the Policy Research Institute. His previous positions include Senior Vice President at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Executive Director for Japan at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Deputy Director General with the European Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). He has also served as Professor at the Graduate School of Public Affairs at the University of Tokyo. During the 2020–21 academic year, Mr. Hasegawa’s research will examine the evolution of Japan’s foreign aid policy and its economic, humanitarian, diplomatic dimensions.
