Research project: Local Financial Institutions and Regional Economic Revitalization
Mr. Haramura holds a B.A. in Commerce from Waseda University. At the Ministry of Finance (MOF), he was most recently the Director of Office of Liaison and Inspection of Local Finance Bureaus. Previously he has served as the Director of Office of the Finance System Stabilization Management in the Financial Services Agency (FSA); the Director of the Japan Mint; and the Director of the Kinki Local Finance Bureau. As an Associate Professor of Shiga University and a Chief Research Officer of MOF’s Policy Research Institute, he has also published articles on local financial institutions, Japan Post Bank, and corporate governance. While at Harvard, Mr. Haramura will examine the role of the local financial institutions for regional economic revitalization in the U.S. and Japan.
