Research Project: Children’s Rights and Child Protection Law
Momo Sakamoto earned her B.A. and LL.B. at the University of Tokyo, and later received her J.D. at the University of Tokyo Graduate School for Law and Politics. In 2020, she obtained an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, where she enrolled in courses that addressed laws related to family, disability, privacy, and sentencing, as well as feminist legal theory. Since 2016, she has served as Assistant Judge for the Sapporo District Court Third Civil Division, and has worked on various civil cases. She previously held the office at the Otaru Branch of the Sapporo District Court. Judge Sakamoto’s research in 2020–21 will examine children’s rights and child protection law, with a focus on family law, school safety, migrant children, and international child abduction.
