Graduate Research Grant

The Program on U.S.-Japan Relations at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs (WCFIA) will award competitive grants for Harvard graduate students who plan to conduct research in Japan during the winter break and spring semester of the 2018-19 academic year. The grant will provide funding towards travel and living expenses in Japan. Graduate students engaged in social science research related to contemporary Japan, in both M.A. and Ph.D. programs, are eligible to apply. The applicant must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at Harvard, and in good academic standing. Preferences will be given to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) students, whose proposed research contributes directly to the completion of their M.A. thesis or Ph.D. dissertation. The grant cannot be used for language study. This new grant program is funded with support from the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP). Awards are up to $4,000.
