Rie Niida

Ms. Niida received her LL.B. from Kyoto University and LL.M. in International Law from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. At the Ministry of Justice, her most recent position was Immigration Inspector at the Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau. Her previous positions include Officer in the International Affairs Division of the Criminal Affairs Bureau; Immigration Inspector at the Nagoya Regional Immigration Bureau; and Officer in Legal Affairs at the Counselor’s Office. While at Harvard, Ms. Niida’s research will examine the labor practices of unskilled workers, and their status as temporary residents, permanent residents and immigrants.
