Hiroaki Sakamoto

Mr. Sakamoto earned his B.A. in Public Law from the University of Tokyo. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has served in the First China and Mongolia Division, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he coordinated policies toward China; and as Vice Consul of the Consulate General of Japan in Hong Kong. During 2014-16, he studied at Nanjing University and served as an attaché of the Embassy of Japan in China. During the 2016-17 academic year, Mr. Sakamoto’s research will examine the competitive dynamics of U.S.-China relations and its impact on Japan.
