Azusa Katagiri, PhD

Dr. Katagiri holds a B.A. and LL.M. from the University of Tokyo and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford University. His research interests include diplomacy and domestic politics, alliance politics, text analysis, machine learning, and U.S. and Japanese foreign policy. He is a recipient of the Computational Social Science Funds at Stanford University, the Murata Science Foundation Research Grant, and Young Scholar Research Grant (Suntory Foundation). Prior to Stanford, he worked for the Japanese foreign service in Tokyo and Washington D.C. While at Harvard, Dr. Katagiri will examine Japan’s threat perception in a changing security environment, utilizing text analysis and machine learning methods.
