Wojciech Gerwel, Poland, diplomat. Mr. Gerwel has served most recently as counsellor at the department of economic affairs of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Previously, he headed the unit for non-European markets and served as senior expert on Africa and the Middle East. Mr. Gerwel spent nearly seven years in South East Asia, where he served as economic counsellor at the Embassy of Poland in Hanoi. Prior to his diplomatic service, Mr. Gerwel worked as a research analyst at the Center for European Policy Analysis in Washington, DC and did a stint with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). His professional experience also includes consulting to First Nations in British Columbia, Canada. Mr. Gerwel received his master’s degree in German and European Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. He also holds diplomas from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and Lester B. Pearson United World College of the Pacific, Victoria, Canada. While at Harvard, he is pursuing research on economic diplomacy, international business facilitation, and international trade.
