Clifton Trout, colonel, United States Anny, most recently served in Afghanistan at NATO's Resolute Support Mission as the Director of the Commander's Action Group. Colonel Clifton Trout is a career strategic plans and policy officer (Functional Area 59). Previously, Cliff was a student at the United States Anny War College. His career highlights include assignments as a Special Assistant to the 18th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2011-2014, and service on the National Security Council Staff, Afghanistan and Pakistan Directorate, from 2009 to 2011. Colonel Trout also served as the Command Inspector General at Walter Reed Anny Medical Center from March 2007 to May 2008. His postings include assignments in the United States, Afghanistan, and the Republic of Korea. He holds master 's degrees in strategic studies and in public policy, and a bachelor 's degree in administration. Colonel Trout's military decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. While at the Weatherhead Center, he intends to research the effects of the information age on the U.S. national security decision-making process.
